Christmas 2012

Sunday most of my siblings and families were at my parents for the day. Mom laid out a lovely feast of pork sirloin steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, butter horns, cauliflower broccoli salad, and a delicious bean salad. Then for dessert we had date pudding. The children all try to wait patiently as we get things cleaned up and dishes washed. They are waiting for the gift time.

Twenty-five years ago when we took our family trip out west; we brought slabs of Redwood back and they stayed tucked away at my folks all these years. This summer as Mom was cleaning out the basement, she came across these ugly slabs of wood and decided it was time to do something with them. This is what a talented man from Northwoods Beach did with them. I wish I had a before picture but alas I do not. He certainly made something beautiful out of them. Now we all have a lovely memory on display in our homes. Thanks Mom and Dad, we certainly appreciate this very lovely gift.
